The State Treasurer's office manages more than $77 Billion in pension funds,
investing the retirement dollars of 725,000 North Carolinians, hopefully as
wisely and prudently as possible. Obviously, the Treasurer's office is
no place for on-the-job training!
The
only candidate with actual investment experience in
managing and protecting people's money is Michael Weisel. While serving as
Investment Manager and Pension Fund Advisor at international firms like
Kemper Financial Services and Wells Fargo Bank, he managed more than
$1.25 billion in pension fund assets.
Michael Weisel is also the
only candidate to serve on state boards critical to
the state treasurer, like the Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System,
the Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System, and the State Board of
Community Colleges. As a member of the State Banking Commission, Michael
Weisel also led the fight against ridiculously high, 36% interest rates by predatory lenders.
And the
only candidate who refused political contributions from any bank,
investment manager, PAC or individual that invests the State's pension
funds? Again, Michael Weisel.
Weisel - The ONLY choice for wise investing and protecting your money
