For Retirees

DENNIS DUCKER

14 JASMINE LANE

BREVARD, NORTH CAROLINA 28712

Dear Fellow Retiree,

As North Carolina's former Deputy State Treasurer and Director of the State Retirement System, I spent much of my career making sure that the pensions of North Carolina governmental employees were safe and strong. That is why I think it is important to elect Michael Weisel as our next State Treasurer. Therefore, I am endorsing his candidacy and ask that you join me in supporting and working for Michael's election.

I have known Michael for many years, and find him to be a person of honesty and integrity. He is not a typical politician, so he will never support ill-conceived schemes by some politicians that would weaken our State's investments and the soundness of our retirement systems. Michael has the character and the broad range of experience to make him the clear choice to be State Treasurer.

Michael has spent over thirty years in financial and legal services helping people and businesses to succeed. He has an excellent reputation in both the financial and legal communities. During his financial career, he managed more than $1.25 billion in assets for such national companies as Kemper and Wells Fargo, serving as an investment manager and pension fund advisor.

Since 1992, Michael has served on nearly every state board and commission upon which past Treasurers have served. These include the Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System, the Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System, the State Banking Commission, and the State Board of Community Colleges.

Currently, Michael practices business and corporate law with the prestigious Raleigh firm of Bailey and Dixon, L.L.P. His peers in the legal community rank him at the highest level of professional excellence and standards of conduct and ethics.

Michael's wife, Deborah Lamm Weisel, is a Wilson native and a Research Professor at North Carolina State University. Together, they are raising two wonderful daughters, Avery (age 13) and Schuyler (age 9). Both Avery and Schuyler attend the Wake County public schools.

If you have a computer, you can visit Michael's website, www.Weisel2008.org, to learn more about his outstanding qualifications to be Treasurer and his public service. Also, if you wish to join me in supporting Michael's candidacy or making a financial contribution to his campaign, I am enclosing an envelope for your use.

I sincerely believe that we can find no better person than Michael Weisel to be a strong, forceful voice in protecting the strength and integrity of our retirement systems' assets and investments. Please vote for Michael Weisel for State Treasurer. The security of our retirement future depends on it!

Very truly yours,

Weisel - The ONLY choice for wise investing and protecting your money
